The main topic of the webinar was the promotion of innovation in the field of bioeconomy through strengthening cooperation between sectors that utilize bioresources. Participants discussed ways in which new knowledge and policies can be applied in the European Union to enhance sustainable production and the use of bioresources.

The webinar was beneficial for all participants, providing them with information and examples of local public policies in the fields of agriculture and food sustainability, demonstrating how regional strategies can enhance synergies for the bioeconomy. An initiative addressing food transition, territorial planning, and the development of collective nutrition in one of the regions was presented. Additionally, attention was given to the strategies of one German and one French region, which promote sustainable bioeconomy and the integration of innovations. The work of an international organization dedicated to the development of circular bioeconomy and its significance for food system transformation was also showcased.

The topic of the panel discussion was “Cultivating Sustainable Synergies: How Regional and National Initiatives Influence Innovation in the Agri-Food Sector Bioeconomy.” Participants discussed the importance of aligning regional and national policies, the role of regional strategies in supporting sustainable solutions, the significance of funding research and technologies, and the necessity of developing a circular bioeconomy as a sustainable approach.

In conclusion, the webinar provided insights into key findings and recommendations, such as improving cooperation between regional and national initiatives, which should be better coordinated to fully leverage the potential of the bioeconomy. There was also an emphasis on sustainability through the integration of circular economic principles and sustainable solutions, which are essential for the future development of the sector. Additionally, the need for greater investment in research, technology transfer, and the application of innovations was highlighted to strengthen the bioeconomic ecosystem.

The webinar served as an important platform for knowledge exchange, emphasizing the need for enhanced collaboration and investment in the bioeconomy to ensure a sustainable future for the agri-food sector and other bioresource-based industries.
