During the workshop, the development experiences and perspectives of rural communities around the world were presented, which are often very isolated, and therefore the experiences of various countries in providing secure access to energy are very useful.
The panelists presented the results of research conducted in a large number of countries (from the richest to the poorest), which showed that access to energy is directly related to the level of progress of a given society.
Prof. Dr. Mirjana Radovanović presented the project in the discussion part and indicated the results of the research in this part which showed: the degree of electrification in the rural areas of the Republic of Serbia is very high and citizens are very satisfied with access to electricity.
Bearing in mind the presented knowledge obtained around the world, from the aspect of the project, a relatively realistic conclusion can be drawn that access to electrical energy in the rural areas of the Republic of Serbia is not a problem that significantly affects their development.
On the other hand, the experiences of using electricity from renewable sources (most often solar panels) were presented, which proved to be the best solution for rural areas, where in some countries solar panels were installed in rural areas completely free of charge for the local population.
Improving energy efficiency is one of the important goals of the transition to a circular economy model, and improvements in this direction are highly desirable, but must be adapted to the conditions on the ground.
During the realization of the project, many interviewees, especially from the economic sector in rural areas, pointed to the problem of the price of electricity and their thinking about the installation of solar panels, for which they generally lack financial resources. The above will certainly be one of the recommendations listed in the outcomes of the project.
